I have tried like every major distro since 2000 and I'm still not the most experienced Linux user. The whole point is the unboxing experience for regular people. The Linux community is worse than the metal community as far as gatekeeping goes. Nobody remembers what the road they took was like and everyone is inferior and will always be inferior. Now I've met some helpful and great people in the metal and Linux communities but most people are just jerks and the Linux community is the biggest hindrance to the Linux community.

Funny little story, a game I follow (Wuthering Waves) with the last update ran on Linux, I migrated the whole system to Fedora, 1 day later the developers realize that they have not activated the anticheat and the game does not work anymore I let you imagine my reaction

I highly recommend Alien Isolation on SD. It adheres to the aesthetic of the original Alien movie, and is a masterclass at building tension. It's a survival horror classic, which unfortunately too few people bought, otherwise it would have had a sequel. It's also highly discounted at the moment, and runs beautifully on Steam Deck, even at 1080p whilst docked.

Hey dude, cool list but a small complaint. The video quality on the gameplays/trailers of games you put as b-roll look abysmal man. Why bother rendering and uploading this whole video in 4K if you're going to use 480p trailers for like the vast majority of it?

I hope cyberpunk has actually gotten better on Linux. When I tried it about a year ago it was about four times lower framerate than on windows. I just gave up and dual booted.

Literally just take the screen out of the deck and shrink it down to a normal sized controller. That's all they had to do

"Like that Smash button" 😂 Sounds like something I would say! Lol Personally, after owning both, I still recommend the OLED. While the screen is nice, the stand-out features of the OLED vs LCD is the thermal performance and extended battery life. If mobility is your key usecase for getting the Deck, then OLED all the way.

+1 for Shadow of War. Replace Doom 2016 with Eternal or get them both for extra fun. Runs well with Vulkan.

I picked up (and am going to replay) The Nonary Games, which is a collection of escape the room/point and click/visual novel games. Definitely worth a look.

I got Southpark the stick of truth. It was a awesome show. I think it'll be a great game.

indiana jones collection on steam is only 6$ for 4 games right now, crab champions is on sale and is pretty fun and I definitely plan to buy outcast a new beginning. currently playing total war pharoah which is also on sale. I also picked up stranded alien dawn and a few other games. love the steam sales. also the disney bundle seems like a good deal and all the disney retro games are dirt cheap right now.

If you want a full fledged 3D racing game where you can casually drive loads of different cars, Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition is a great deal as well. It's driving is more serious than need for speed, but less serious than Gran Turismo and the regular Forza series. I just boot it up on my Deck, drive around, customize some cars, play some racers and then move on with my day. Love it. At 80% off the Ultimate Edition gives you loads of cars and expansion right at the start (after the introductory chapter where you get through all the seasons) and wheelspins to get more stuff. Wheelspins? Yeah Wheelspins, there is a gatcha element to it. BUT there is no way to buy more wheelspins. The Wheelspins are designed to help you guide through all the unlockable and let's you try stuff you otherwise might not have picked.

Haven't tried the games I bought on my Steam Deck yet, but they worked just fine on my Nobara PC and ChimeraOS. Warhammer 40k Boltgun, Astroneer, oblivion override, Rogue Legacy 2, Hotshot racing, viewfinder, New super luckys tale and many more.

I would've gotten Shadow of War a LONG time ago, but it had lootboxes and Denuvo, so I didn't. Meanwhile they removed the lootboxes, but it STILL HAS Denuvo. The game was released almost 7 years ago and it has a DRM-free version available on GoG! What is wrong with these people?!

How can you recommend Cyberpunk on steam deck? It's not technically acceptable... I'd hoped that price wasn't the only criterion, but that there was also a bit of technical curation.

Gardiner, turbo buttons are great for classic games like Tiger heli, megaman, etc. Anything that shoots once when you press shoot. This could apply to weapons in contra, castlevania, Mario fireballs, etc.
